How To Do

Stand tall with a barbell across your upper back and feet shoulder-width apart. Step out to the side, bending your stepping knee and pushing your hips back into a lunge while keeping your other leg straight and your chest up. Push through your heel to return to the starting position, keeping your core engaged throughout.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Begin by standing upright with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell across your upper back. Ensure the barbell is balanced and your grip is firm, with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
  2. Engage your core and keep your chest up as you prepare to step to the side.
  3. Take a large step to the right with your right foot, keeping your left foot planted. As you step, bend your right knee and push your hips back, lowering your body into a lunge position. Your right thigh should be parallel to the ground, and your left leg should remain straight.
  4. Ensure your right knee stays aligned with your toes and does not extend past them. Keep your back straight and your core engaged throughout the movement.
  5. Push through your right heel to return to the starting position, bringing your right foot back to shoulder-width apart.
  6. Repeat the movement on the left side by stepping to the left with your left foot and performing the lunge on that side.
  7. Alternate sides for the desired number of repetitions.
